Time to Reset!

Hey Friends,

Whew, what a week! This one felt long and honestly, pretty tiring. I took a much-needed day off after the election because, like many of you, I just needed some time to reset. If you haven’t yet, check out my post, "To My Black Sisters, With Love." I hope it gives you a little extra encouragement to keep going, no matter how heavy things may feel.

Since taking that time for myself, I’ve been in a really good place. My first interaction after the election was… interesting. A Black man approached me, clearly feeling good about his choice in candidates, looking to gloat and maybe even provoke me a little. I could feel the energy shift, and in the past, I might’ve taken the bait. But you know what? I’ve decided that I’m done with all that. I'm done engaging, explaining, or giving grace where it’s not returned. This is ME season, and I’m preserving my energy for what truly matters.

There are more important matters that require my focus, and I'm directing it all toward my goals and the amazing Black women around me who are doing the same. So, while election results may have felt like a dark cloud, this joy I have? The world didn’t give it, and the world can’t take it away. Amen? Amen!

In upcoming newsletters, I want to share more about my journey as a mom, raising my teenage son who’s on the autism spectrum. I know there’s a lot out there on parenting younger kids, but let me tell you! Raising a teen? Now baby, that’s a whole different beast! So I’ll be bringing y’all into our journey more because I know a lot of folks are curious.

And I also want to start giving a little something back to you all. I might include a special gift or a coupon code in some of these emails as a thank-you for being here. It’s just my way of sharing a bit of love, because we’re all in this together. Now when I say "little" I mean that. I ain't Oprah, sweet babies. 😂
